2015 Endeavor Awards Recipients Announced

“We are pleased to announce three volunteer pilot recipients of the 2015 Endeavor Awards on May 30 in Los Angeles,” said Mark Wolper, Chair of Endeavor Awards. “There were many amazing volunteers pilots nominated from a nationwide call for nominations.

The awards recipients are John Billings with Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic, Richard Durden with LightHawk and Stephen Purello of Angel Flight Southeast. Each organization represented by the award recipients will receive a $15,000 contribution from the Endeavor Awards Ceremony and Gala on May 30.

“We are fortunate in this country to have so many dedicated volunteer pilots who provide thousands of free flights every day to serve people and communities. The Endeavor Awards were created to honor volunteer pilots and provide support to the non-profit organizations that arrange their flights,” said Mark. “We appreciate the careful and thoughtful decision-making by the Selection Committee.”

The members of the 2015 Selection Committee are Linda Daschle, President of LHD & Associates; Stephan Fopeano, Executive Director of VPOIDS, Stephanie Kenyon, Vice President, Strategic Philanthropy, AOPA Foundation; Charles Plumb, Former Nay Fighter Pilot & POW; and Allan Schrader, President, Lightspeed Aviation & Founder, Lightspeed Aviation Foundation.

Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic arranges free medical air transportation in District of Columbia, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. Angel Flight Southeast arranges free air transportation for people needing access to health care in the Southeastern U.S. LightHawk mobilizes volunteer pilots, photographers, environmental experts and storytellers to make images, collect data, inform the public and provide conservation and environmental oversight.

Please join us in celebrating these pilots at the Endeavor Awards Ceremony & Gala on May 30 in Los Angeles. The event is hosted by Angel Flight West at the Samuel Oschin Space Shuttle Endeavour Pavilion at the California Science Center. Angel Flight West arranges flights for access to medical care and other humanitarian services in the thirteen western states.
